Communities
Middle schools, libraries, and clubs in the local area.
Colleges
Civic-minded college students and universities.

OUR MISSION

JerseySTEM, a grassroots 501(c) nonprofit organization bringing STEM for underserved middle school girls in New Jersey. We partner with corporations, youth organizations, and college students to deliver innovative after-school projects and online learning. Together, we foster teamwork, problem-solving skills, and self-esteem through hands-on experiences.

PROBLEM

GENDER GAP: Women make up only 27% of the STEM workforce. The amount of women studying computer science in college has been declining since the 1980s compared to other fields.

INNOVATION GAP: JerseySTEM leverages platforms such as MIT App Inventor and Scratch to teach coding and problem-solving to students at an early age.

OPPORTUNITY GAP: 74% of girls are interested in STEM- related fields, but only 20% of students are prepared for college-level STEM programs.
