A JerseySTEM Corporate Partner Profile : Croda

July 2023 – The Croda-JerseySTEM partnership dates back to the fall of 2022, when the sustainability leader in the chemical industry participated in a panel discussion co-sponsored by JerseySTEM at the New Jersey Institute of Technology’s Albert Dorman Honors College.

The event provided the honors students with an understanding of the ways in which technology is enabling the rapid development of life-saving vaccines and how it is expanding opportunities to create sustainable food systems. Croda and other company representatives also discussed how technology is being used to create a more equitable society, and how college students can be a force for positive world-changing innovations in the future.

Another partnership milestone was a Croda donation to support the development of JerseySTEM’s new Chemistry curriculum program for middle school students and to help defray the cost of bringing a cadre of middle school students from Robert Treat Academy in Newark, NJ to the New York Society of Cosmetic Chemists Suppliers’ Day trade show in New York City in May.

Croda’s purpose, Smart science to improve lives™, is reflected throughout all aspects of the business including STEM outreach, employee volunteerism, and philanthropy.

The most recent demonstration of support was a donation of proceeds from a poster session competition won by two Croda employees at the Suppliers’ Day event in New York City. The winning poster described Croda’s latest innovation in acne care, a particularly relevant topic for the students. The kids spent an inspiring day learning basic chemistry concepts and applications from Croda and other chemical industry experts while attending the special event.
